Prerov

The town of Prerov is located in the Olomouc Region, approximately 90 km away from the main venue of the tournament – Brno. This industrially oriented town has around 44,000 inhabitants. The symbol of the city is a bison which also gave the name to the local brewery and to the local hockey club as well. Hockey in Prerov plays a significant role in the social life of the town. In 2012, the Championship for women under 18 took place here and it was hosted by the town of Prerov together with the town of Zlin.

The matches and the battle for third place of Group B took place here, and the Championship was attended by a record number of spectators – 17,480. After this success, the IIHF decided to let the Czech Republic host the Championship for women under 18 also in 2017, again together with Zlin. The local hockey club is called HC ZUBR Prerov. 2015 was a breakthrough for the club as it was their comeback to the second-biggest competition – the WSM League - after seventeen years. The matches are well attended. The capacity of the arena is 3,000 spectators and an average 2,400 fans come to the hockey matches.
